Inishere, Aran Islands

This was a shot of a crazy colored thatched roof from one of the residents on the island of Inishere, the smallest of the Aran islands (see all the stone fences?). The people who lived here survived the famine as they were isolated from the mainland (or so the local people told us). I took a ton of photographs here of castle ruins, a 10th century church at the bottom of a graveyard, a shipwrecked boat, and of course pubs. Elyse and I spent two hours of the trip looking for her passport and all of her money. A local had picked it up on the bike path and turned it in to the bike rental shop. Despite the passport fiasco, it was a great day, followed with a sunset at the Cliffs of Moher.
