Los Cojolites esta muy bueno!

C, B and I headed out on a Saturday night (February 24) for a night of indigenous Mexican music-lots of strings and maybe a dancer on stage I thought-plus Zach De La Rocha might perform with them as he is a champion for the band (evidently legends in Mexico) and the type of music the band plays-Son Jarocho.
We were late according to the paper's 7:00 pm showtime but early as the show reallly began at 8:00 pm. We climbed stairs to a second floor to find the El Centro de Mexico space which was very grassroots looking. We waiting while people began filling the place up and tortas on sale for $3. B scooped up three seats in the front row. People kept crowding in requests were made to give up seats for elderly and women with children. We ended up right in front of the stage on the floor and C began to feel clausterphobic plus after numerous soccer games was stiff and tired but she pulled through all right. To condense the story since it is already passing in my memory and my eyes are getting bleary: Great strings, great shoe tapping, great voices and a full crowd. Fire code was beyond broken and we were some of the few white faces in the crowd. Very fun but we didn't stick around for the Fandango afterward. If you get a chance to see this band definately do! B did spot Zach on the way out but he never played unless he did later on that night.
