Apples

I forgot to tell you about my experience eating my first candied apple. I was downtown Seattle, so of course I had to see Pike's Market again. It was a late, cold Sunday evening. We walked down, down, down the hill to the ferry. We watched the whole routine: people loading onto the ferry through the turnstyles, bikes and cars down below driving onto the lower deck. I imagined that as my commute every day. After the gates closed and the engines fired up we walked to the market, up, up, upstairs and realized we were too late, it smelled of fish and stores were closing down left and right. Winding around the corner we wandered in a tea shop. No hibiscus or licorice root--of course. Walking further I looked in the windows to my right. And this is the vision I had:

Thanks for buying the candied apple, Kate. I ate my slice when I returned to the hotel and I felt like I was in the chocolate factory. It was the perfect end to my weekend in Seattle.
